Models of Cartilage Injury: in Vitro and in Vivo

ثبت نشده
چکیده

Introduction: Cartilage injury is one of the most significant factors leading to secondary osteoarthritis. Several studies have demonstrated cartilage matrix damage and chondrocyte death in response to mechanical injury. Recently it has been shown that chondrocytes undergo apoptosis when subjected to mechanical trauma. This study presents several models of cartilage injury ranging from in vitro to in vivo that can be used to study this phenomenon. Validation of these models is provided with clinical data.

The Role of Gene Therapy in Cartilage Repair

The key principle of gene delivery to articulations by direct intra-articular injection is to release complementary DNA(cDNA)-encoding medical products that will lead to maintained, endogenous production of the gene products withinthe articulation. In fact, this has been accomplished for both in vivo and ex vivo gene delivery, using several vectors, genes, and cells in some animal models. Some c...

Asiaticoside attenuates hyperoxia-induced lung injury in vitro andin vivo

Objective(s): Asiaticoside (AS) displays anti-inflammation, and anti-apoptosis effect, but the role of AS in hyperoxia-induced lung injury (HILI) treatment is undefined. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of AS on HILI on premature rats and alveolar type II (AEC II) cells.Materials and Methods: Sprague-Dawley...

Advances in adipose-derived stem cells and cartilage regeneration: review article

The cartilage is a connective tissue that, due to the strength of its extracellular matrix, allows the tissue to tolerate mechanical stress without undergoing permanent deformation. It is responsible for the support of soft tissues and due to its smooth surface and elasticity, gives the joints the ability to slip and bend. excessive weight, excessive activity, or trauma can all cause cartilage ...
